How Much Does a Tattoo Cost?

By Noémi Kovács, Tattoo Artist

Hey there! If you’re reading this, you’re probably thinking about getting a tattoo and wondering what the price might be. The truth is, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer, because the cost of a tattoo can vary depending on a few key factors. Let me walk you through them so you can have a better idea of what to expect.

How much does a tattoo cost

What Determines the Price of a Tattoo?

1. Time Involved: This is the most important factor when calculating the cost of a tattoo. The more time it takes to complete, the higher the price. Small, simple designs may only take an hour, while larger, more detailed pieces could take multiple sessions.

2. Tattoo Style: The style or “breed” of the tattoo matters a lot. Some styles are more intricate and time-consuming (like realism or detailed shading), while others are simpler and quicker to complete (like minimalist line art).

3. Ink Quality & Colors: Using high-quality ink and multiple colors can also influence the cost. Quality matters to me because I want your tattoo to not only look amazing but also last long without fading.

4. Body Placement: The location of your tattoo on your body can affect the price. Certain areas are more delicate or tricky to tattoo, requiring more time and precision from the artist.

5. Size and Complexity: Larger and more complex designs will naturally cost more than smaller, simpler ones. If you’re looking for something very detailed, keep in mind that this will require more planning and skill to execute.

6. Technical Difficulty: Some tattoos, like portraits or tattoos with fine details, require specialized skills and may cost more due to the complexity involved.

Pricing for Consultations and Appointments

To help you plan your tattoo journey, I offer a couple of different consultation options:

Free 15-minute meeting: You can use this twice to discuss your tattoo ideas and get some general advice.

30-minute consultation for pre-design work: This costs 50 CHF, and it’s perfect if you’re ready to dive a bit deeper into your design ideas.

60-minute in-depth consultation: For a more comprehensive discussion about your design, this option is 100 CHF.

All consultations need to be booked ahead of time via my online calendar system. It helps keep everything organized and ensures I can give you my full attention during your session!

Tattoo Appointment Pricing

Now, let’s talk about the actual tattooing process. My pricing is based on time and includes designing and a follow-up touch-up session.

Small Tattoos: If you’re looking for something small that takes around 1 to 1.25 hours, the price starts at 200 CHF. This includes 15 minutes of free designing, and one free touch-up within 6-12 weeks.

Half-Day Session: If you’re interested in a more detailed piece, I offer half-day sessions lasting around 3.5 to 4 hours, with a price ranging from 600 to 700 CHF. This includes 30 minutes of free designing and a 30-minute break.

Full-Day Session: For larger, more immersive tattoo projects, I offer full-day sessions (6.5 to 7 hours) at a maximum price of 1,000 CHF. This includes one hour of free designing and a one-hour break.
